The first thing I need to address is the stigma and taboo around Touch Therapy and Cuddle Therapy. We live in a very reserved society and if you mention Cuddle Therapy, you will probably receive some strange looks or sarcastic comments, believe me, I know. People tend to assume all body-to-body contact between adults is intimate in nature, or they think Cuddle Therapy is a euphemism for something illicit – it is not. Cuddle Therapy is a high form of self-care that is unique in its application and benefits, this is not something to feel guilty or ashamed about. I hope the following Q&A will ease some worries or fears
Is Cuddle Therapy for me?
If you are reading this, it’s highly likely you already know the answer, so let me assure you Cuddle Therapy is for everyone. Loneliness is the most common reason for seeking Touch/Cuddle Therapy, there’s certainly no shame in that. Whether you are feeling the effects of living alone, having a career that limits physical interactions, or suffer a lack of affection in relationships – we can fill the void and beat loneliness. You may have a phobia of intimacy and want a safe space to work on breaking down barriers, or you may suffer from a physical condition that limits interactions or causes pain – we can work on that together
What happens during a session?
Sessions are all about you. We will discuss boundaries and goals, but the format is free to make you feel safe, secure and relaxed. We work at your own pace, we can cuddle in silence for the entire duration, or we can explore other areas of touch therapy; arm stroking, hand holding, feet rubbing – it’s all about you
What if I get too comfortable and fall asleep?
Is there something wrong with being too comfortable? If you feel relaxed enough to fall asleep, we can either change positions or try another type of touch therapy. However, if you want to sleep, do it. I will hold you whilst you do and wake you up in plenty of time to end the session
What should I wear?
Whatever you feel comfortable in! Pyjamas are most common. I will be in soft touch jogging bottoms and tee; there’s no dress code – unless you want to dress in full furry cosplay – that may need to be discussed beforehand. If you are visiting me you can change onsite, but please do not wear perfume/aftershave.
Can I attend if I have allergies?
Yes! In fact many people seek out this therapy because they are at risk. Once you’ve confirmed your appointment, I will send you a form requesting details; including allergies. I ask that people visiting refrain from wearing perfume/aftershave to lessen the likelihood for this reason
How does Touch Therapy differ from Cuddle Therapy?
The simplest differential is that Touch Therapy doesn’t involve laying down. All interactions take place in a seated or standing position – perfect for those with limited mobility. Cuddle Therapy can include all aspects of Touch Therapy.
What is a Companionship Session?
If full contact is too much initially, maybe you would feel more confident with someone by your side, hand-in-hand, on a countryside walk or having a coffee? A Companionship Session is a more social, limited interaction Touch Therapy experience.
